Dr Karamat Iqbal. Peace and Reconciliation. A Discussion Paper.
Dr Iqbal is an education and diversity practitioner. Born in Kashmir, he has been in Birmingham since 1970. He is a member of the Wider Leadership at Riverside Church, where he has worshipped since becoming a Christian in 1995. He is the author of 'Dear Birmingham' and 'British Pakistani boys, education and the role of religion – in the land of the Trojan Horse.' The author has had a longstanding awareness of division between groups, having grown up in a revenge culture and hearing about Partition stories. As a result, throughout his adult life he has promoted reconciliation and built bridges between communities wherever he could.
