This excellent booklet explores the case for gendered ministry among Muslims clearly and well. It is a welcome addition to the literature on the value of gendered experience in Christianity community more generally. It should be compulsory reading for all Christians interacting with Muslims, especially those working with women.

Writing from her own experience as a single woman engaging with, building friendships among and “doing life with” Muslim women in an Arab country, Anne Lee, vividly describes the “hidden world” of Muslim women in socially conservative societies and the abundant opportunities available to her. She draws heavily from books and articles written by women academics and practitioners in the field which have enabled her to reflect theologically on her practice and build conviction in her God-given role as one who is uniquely able to meet women in the spaces they already inhabit, bringing the gospel with her.
The significance of women as a sector of society requiring a specific missional strategy is often overlooked. This booklet is a very welcome addition to voices calling for recognition of the vital opportunities that are being missed and the need to address this blindspot. As such, it will not only be a great encouragement to women practitioners but is a “must read” for mission agency leaders.
